Hi all - I have a Cisco VPN and when it is connected, I can't print to any local (USB/Wireless) printer. Now, this all makes sense, but I am looking for a way to cheat this, rather than disconnecting from the VPN every time and having to print and reconnect to the VPN again.

You should be able to connect to the VPN and remain connected to your network devices, including drivers and printers. Not all network setups are the same, but this approach gives you one creative My home network printer is hooked to a Netgear print server via a USB connection. Since the VPN system won't allow any outside peripheral inside it's "tunnel", it won't let the VPN based computer access any other network. The VPN system is a two-way tunnel that doesn't allow anything else in. If the printer is close enough to the local computer, you can create two logical printers (one for the network connection and one for the USB connection) for the printer. The USB printer can be used while vpn connection is active (or not), but remain available (via the Ethernet connection) to other computers on the local network. Printing on network and local printers over VPN connections and RDP connections can be somewhat tricky if not configured properly. Use the following steps to aid you in correcting the inability to connect to these local and network printers if issues are occuring. I connect to work through a Cisco VPN. My home office has a broadband router with two computers and a network printer. I can print from either computer as long as I am not connected to the VPN. Printers connected directly to the computer aren't affected by this but printers in the Local Area Network(LAN) may become unusable while connected to the VPN.There are a number of ways to deal with this problem, the easiest of which is to disable the VPN, print and then reconnect to the VPN.

The USB printer can be used while vpn connection is active (or not), but remain available (via the Ethernet connection) to other computers on the local network. In theory, though I have not tested, the IOGEAR GUWH104KIT can be used for the USB connection if distance is an issue or you can add additional GUWH104 receivers if you need to connect
Network printers for home and small businesses look similar to other types but feature an Ethernet port, while many newer models incorporate built-in Wi-Fi wireless capability. To configure these kinds of printers for networking: Update the printer's settings Select "Add a local printer or network with manual settings" and click next. This option is at the bottom of the "Find a printer by other options" menu. Click the radial button next to it and click "Next" in the lower-right corner of the menu. 11. Select "Create a new printer port". Doing that would require the home printer to be on the 10. network. A vpn router that both the home laptop and printer are connected to is the only option aside from asking company IT to add the WAN address of your home router along with some port forwarding to a company print server. Also rarely allowed. If your VPN address space at the office is the same as your home address space, it may be possible that your print jobs are being sent to the same address of your printer, but on the office side When connect to the Mobile VPN, remote user needs to RDP into a terminal server and be able to print to their local network printer. However the remote user cannot print to their local network printer unless the Mobile VPN is disconnected, even without RDP. Need assistance in resolving. you can set the machine that hosts the printer to have the same ip everytime you connect to the vpn. That is the only way i can keep track of our warehouse computers. If you are simply logging in with windows vpn you just set the user that you are using to login to have a static ip address. At the Add Printer dialog box select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer and press Next. You should see a message that reads, No printers were found. Select the option The printer that I want isn't listed. On the next screen click, Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname, and press Next.
